Alison Davis co-owns Luna’s Coffee, Wine, and Butterfly Cafe with her husband, Web Barney. Alison, a professor in the College of Agriculture at the University of Kentucky, met Web, an entomologist, within the corridors of academia. Together, they created Luna’s, a charming cafe and the first of its kind in the nation.
Alison will share her journey of navigating the restaurant industry’s complexities amidst the challenges of the COVID era and unveil Luna’s unique value proposition. Discover how this delightful establishment enriches Jessamine County and its surrounding areas, offering an experience unlike any other.
Alison’s journey began with extensive restaurant experience in the 90s, but she soon transitioned to the field of economics. Today, she is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at UK, wielding her expertise to direct CEDIK, a statewide center dedicated to community and economic development. At Luna’s, Alison seamlessly intertwines her passion for food and business, overseeing its culinary aspects. Meanwhile, her husband Web, a trained entomologist, lends his expertise to curate Luna’s captivating indoor butterfly and moth exhibits and the enchanting butterfly house. Together, they infuse Luna’s with a blend of culinary artistry and entomological wonder.
